An Introduction To Raunds House
May I introduce myself? I’m Janet Neville, the Centre Leader
at the Serve Activities Centre, 5/7 Grove Street, Raunds.
The centre is open Monday to Friday 9.30 am - 3.30 pm. Tel: 01933 624747
“What do you do?”, I hear you ask. A lot, and it’s all here waiting to be
accessed by the elderly, disabled and those in need in Raunds, should you
require us.
The DAY CLUBS that we run from our Grove Street premises are specifically for
older residents in Raunds and Stanwick. These clubs are for those elderly people
who may be a little isolated at home and feel they would like some company. They
are held throughout the week and are from 10.30 am - 2.30 pm. We provide tea,
coffee & biscuits, a wonderful freshly cooked lunch, activities and
entertainment. We also have bathing facilities, so if you can’t bathe at home
and would like to make use of our specialised facilities, you’re very welcome.
All the groups are run by myself (a former nurse) and a team of care workers and
volunteers.
You probably know that SERVE’s HQ is in Rushden, but ALL the services the
organisation provides are available to the residents of Raunds. If you would
like information of the full range of help and activities, contact me or pop in
and pick up a leaflet about Home Care, Equipment Hire, Cleaning, Shopping,
Transport To Medical Appointments and Benefit Advice.
Alternatively, if you’re wondering what to do with your spare time or are new to
the area and would like to meet people, why not come and join SERVE as a
volunteer? Think about it - volunteering doesn’t have to “take over” your life
and it can be very rewarding (and yes, even fun).
Look forward to meeting you...
Janet.
