An Introduction To Church Street

A warm welcome, a friendly face, a smile and of course a cup of tea and biscuits are the order of the day when you join us here in Church Street Activities Centre, Rushden.

“What” I here you ask “do I have to do to join in?”. Well, let me introduce myself.

My name is Carol Hillman, Group Leader at Church Street, I work together with a cheerful band of trained Carers and wonderful Volunteers who work closely with each group of clients.

Our aims are to produce a feeling of well being, promote Health Care, Nutrition, Warmth and Safety in the home.

In our Day Centre we have Raffles, Quizzes, Gentle Exercises, Bingo (sometimes), Reminiscence, Group Discussions and much much more.

For those of you who cannot take a bath at home, we also have two disabled bathrooms with a medi-bath in one and a conventional bath with a chair hoist in another, with trained staff to help you to bathe if you have any difficulties.

Our day groups begin at 9.30am and ends at 2.30pm Monday to Friday. These are for the Elderly, Disabled, Partially Sighted or have Memory Loss, Hard Of Hearing or just lonely. Maybe you know someone who would benefit from our friendly groups. You are welcome to call in or give us a ring on 01933 315555.

For those of you with no transport, our marvellous Transport Department would be happy to arrange transport for you, local charges are £2.20.

The charge for day care is £3.00 which includes all drinks, biscuits and a two course freshly cooked meal. Our cook caters for Diabetic and special diets at 12.00 noon each day.

Why not ask about becoming a Volunteer in one of our four Day Centres - if you have any spare time. We have a very dedicated band of Volunteer Ladies and Gentleman who are greatly appreciated and we would welcome anyone who could perhaps come in and just chat to clients or maybe help serve teas and coffees.

Our main office staff are on hand and are happy to help with Equipment Hire, Hearing Aid Batteries and help to fill in these complicated benefit forms and of course, Advice, Help and Understanding.

So, if you would like to meet new people or know someone who would - WELCOME TO SERVE.

Hope to meet you soon.
