Home                          Crime Prevention

We at SERVE are working to reduce the level of distraction burglary in this area - when someone pretends to be a genuine tradesperson to gain entry to your home.

We are able to supply and fit door chains and key safes, this is to help you keep visitors on your doorstep until you are sure of their identity.

If you like, we can carry out a free security check of your home and advise you on how to make it safer.

Burglars don't like locked windows, security deadlocks or door chains because they make burglary harder.

Genuine callers should carry some form of identity card and will not mind if you want to phone their organisation to confirm their identity or to re-arrange the appointment.

If you are unsure or feel suspicious don't let them in and when they have gone call the police or notify us.

How does it work?

  • Our trained volunteers will call and assess your home.
  • Any recommendations are passed to our Handyman.
  • If we cannot do the work we will refer it to the appropriate agency.

Am I elegible?

  • Residents within the East Northants District are eligible.
  • Anyone over the age of 60 can apply to use the service.

How much will it cost?

  • The initial assessment is free.
  • Work carried out by our handyman is free.
