Because we believe that you are never too old to have to learn or to start
something new we have launched the New Horizons Project.
This project will help people learn about computers, to use the internet and to
gain new skills.
Computer Training
At Cyber Serve in Church Street Rushden we have
twelve computers and Broadband access to the internet.
With our partners, Lifelong Learning, we can help you to obtain a certificate in
computer literacy.
If you require something less formal then we can also help with taster sessions
and, if there is enough interest, we can even put on a special course for a
group.
Perhaps you want to surf the internet or send an e-mail to a distant friend or
reletive, then you can use our facilities on a casual basis.
Special Needs
We haven't forgotten people with disabilities or anyone who has sensory
impairments.
Our computer facility is equipped with the latest software and adaptations and
the centre has been adapted for disabled access and use.
Basic Skills
Perhaps you are out of work or would like to advance in your existing company.
It might be that you missed out on computer training because of your age.
We have courses in basic computer skills and can help with compiling CV's,
advice on job applications and even simulate job interviews.
Are you looking for new horizons?
Please contact Kim Kelly on 01933 315555
As SERVE is a voluntary organisation we are seeking funding,
particularly for the acquisition of the computers and also for the running
costs. We have identified a clear need for this type of service in Rushden, a
pilot scheme, run by ourselves over the past year, has benefited over 200 older
people from the local community. If you are able to offer us some help in
achieving our objectives please contact Barry Graves on 01933 315555.
Please check this page regularly for updates on the progress of
the new centre.
